Punch Biopsy

A punch biopsy is a skin treatment procedure that involves the removal of imperfections, such as abnormal moles or freckles, from the surface of the skin for the purpose of laboratory examination. This is done as to allow the proper assessment and diagnosis of any harmful skin conditions that may be present, as well as remove any suspicious imperfections or abnormal tissue.
To help detect any underlying conditions as early as possible, it’s highly important that any skin imperfections deemed potentially harmful to your health, such as suspicious moles or freckles, are taken by our team for laboratory examination. This should allow for early detection of any conditions posing risk to your overall health, meaning they can be treated by our team quickly and effectively.
Early detection can save lives, so our expert dermatologists are on hand to arrange your private consultation straight away, meaning you don’t have to wait for the quality treatment you deserve. Get in touch for more information or to book your consultation today.

What does a Punch Biopsy involve?

During the punch biopsy procedure, our dermatologists will remove any suspicious skin imperfections, such as abnormal moles, from the surface of your skin for in-depth examination, allowing us to accurately diagnose any occurring skin conditions or health issues and subsequently follow up with the best treatment for you.
A punch biopsy can be used to diagnose and treat a range of skin diseases and conditions, such as:
• Skin cancer, including
-basal cell carcinoma
-squamous cell carcinoma
• Bullous pemphigoid and other blistering skin disorders
• Inflammatory skin conditions
• Suspicious moles
• Skin tags
• Warts
Within this procedure, a qualified member of our team will use a small circular tool to remove a small sample of skin for testing. This is a minimal procedure that should only be expected to last around thirty minutes and will be followed up with a second appointment to discuss your diagnosis and any necessary treatment.
